Answer: Osmosis is the movement of liquid molecules from a higher concentration to a lower concentration  through a partial permeable membrane  . An example of osmosis can be the intake of water molecules in plants . Plants absorb water from the earth  through the process of osmosis .

ANOTHER EXPLANATION : Osmosis is a passive process  and happens without any expenditure of energy . It involves the movement of molecules from a region of higher concentration to lower concentration  until the concentration become equal on either side of the membrane .

Any solvent can undergo the process of osmosis including gases and  supercritical liquids .

There are two types of osmosis :  [1] ENDOSMOSIS

                                                          [2] EXOSMOSIS

Friends the main answer in first paragraph the second explanation is of brief answer  on OSMOSIS .

Hope it could help u guys .
