During sexual intercourse, the semen gets deposited in the vagina. The sperms (contained in the semen) swim upwards from the vagina to the upper parts of uterus. Some die on their way and are absorbed. Only a few are able to reach the upper parts of uterus. If an egg is present, only the head part of sperm (containing the nucleus) fuses with the egg forming a zygote and fertilisation takes place. The zygote develops into an embryo by cell division. The heart and circulatory system are formed after a week. The limbs are formed after 2 months.
