The respiratory system, also called the gas exchange system, is the body getting rid of carbon dioxide and taking in oxygen. Carbon dioxide, a waste product, goes out of the body. Oxygen, which the body needs, comes in. The lungs are the main organ to do this.

The first step in this process is breathing in air, or inhaling. Inhalation means bringing air rich in oxygen into the body. Exhalation means giving out air rich in carbon dioxide from the body. The second step is gas exchange in the lungs where oxygen is diffused into the blood and the carbon dioxide diffuses out of the blood. The third process is cellular respiration, which produces the chemical energy that the cells in the body need, and carbon dioxide. Finally, the carbon dioxide from cellular respiration is breathed out of body from the lungs.

we take in air through nostrils which led to r nasal cavity. as the air passes through this cavity it become warm and moistened. from the nose competitively clean warm and moit air passes into a short tube called pharynx from here it goes to trachea or windpipe

the trachea branches into two thinner tube called bronchi which enter to the lungs

after entering the lungs, bronchi divided into smaller n smaller tubes called bronchioles .

air passes through the bronchioles n finally enters tiny sacs called alveoli, which get fill wd air when we inhale

hope this helps u
