Sanskritization was introduced by Prof. M N Srinivas. He defined Sanskritization as the process by which a lower caste or tribe or any other group changes its customs, rituals, ideology and way of life in the direction of a higher or more often twice-born caste.

This is a system of imitation in our society. The lower castes tend to imitate the upper castes and try to change their social status.

With the emergence of concept of Sanskritization the lower caste people started trying to imitate the upper castes in order to improve their living and stop facing the inequal treatment and discrimination that they were facing in the society.

Through this process lower caste people tend to change their social status and not the social hierarchy which contributes in the caste mobility and improvement in status of lower castes.

Now, it is noticeable that unlike ancient India, lower caste people wear the same clotges as upper class people do, they also live in pucca or say modern houses as others, some lower castes also wear holy thread and perform daily rituals in temples just like Brahmins.
