secondary growth in diocot stem :
"permanent increase in thickness due to the activity of vascular cambium and cork cambiran in stellar and extrastelar region "
In dicot stem intrafascular cambium is present is present .the cell's of medullary ray becomes meristematic and forms
interfascicular cambium .These two cambium unite and make a complete cambial .ring the cell's of its divide and produce new cells both on its outer and inner sides .The cells formed on the outer side defferentiate into secondary phloem while the cell's of inner side forms secondary xylem the epidermis is replaced by a secondary protective tissue by increase in growth of the stem of the plant it is made of phellogen or cork cambium it arises from the peripheral cells of cortex the phellogen forms new cells on the outer side which make phellem or cork and phelloderm on it's inner side
