Crude oil is extracted from oil wells from beneath the Earth's surface. It is a compound of different liquids and impurities. Crude oil is distilled and different liquids are separated by the process of fractional distillation. The process is essentially a process of heating. Since the liquids have different boiling points, the liquid with the lowest boiling point changes into vapor first and separated into different trays. Liquids with the highest boiling point are collected last.
The by-products of refining crude oil are Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), petrol, kerosene, diesel, wax, asphalt, etc.
