Answer:
A method of separating mixtures based on differences in their volatilities in a boiling liquid mixture. The components in a sample mixture are vaporised by the application of heat and then immediately cooled by the action of cold water in a condenser.

The process of simple distillation can be defined in the following manner;
- When the two liquids in a solution boil without breakdown or chemical reaction, and their boiling points differ by more than 25 degrees Celsius, they can be separated by simple distillation.
- This procedure is used to separate a combination of two miscible liquids with a boiling point difference of at least 25 degrees Celsius.
- Because acetone and water are miscible liquids with a boiling point difference of more than 25 degrees Celsius, they may be separated using the simple distillation method.
- Take the actions outlined below.
- Add a mixture to the distillation flask and connect the thermometer.
- Arrange the apparatus as in the diagram.
- Heat the mixture slowly while keeping an eye on a thermometer.
- Because acetone has a lower boiling point than water, it starts to evaporate and condense in the condenser before collecting in the beaker.
