Mixture of solids is taken in a china dish and heated through a burner. China dish is covered with an inverted funnel. Tip of funnel is closed with cotton. After heating, volatile solid is evaporated and stored around the funnel tip.

E.g. - Seperation of NaCl with NH₄Cl.
