ANSWER

Rhizopus is the species of a fungus. They reproduce asexually by the formation of the spores.

The body of the fungus is composed of the hyphae which develop the sporangium.

The sporangium is a swollen structure at the tip of the filaments bearing the spores. The spores are tough and resistant structures which are dispersed by the breaking of the sporangium.

When the conditions are favourable, then these spores germinate and develop to form new fungal filaments.

  • Rhizopus is a genus of common saprophytic fungi on plants and specialized parasites on animals.
  • Rhizopus produce by forming asexual and sexual spores.
  1. In asexual reproduction, sporangiospores are produced inside a spherical structure, the sporangium.
  2. In sexual reproduction, a dark zygospore is produced at the point where two compatible mycelia fuse.
