The mixture of rock particle sand humus is called the soil.
If soil contains greater proportion of big particles it is called sandy soil. If the proportion of fine particles is relatively higher, then it is called clayey soil. If the amount of large and fine particles is about the same, then the soil is called loamy.

a sandy soil has the highest proportion of sand particles and the lowest proportions of silt and clay (within the fine earth fraction), a clayey soil has the highest proportion of clay particles, and the loam soil has the most even distribution of sand, silt, and clay particles. Most soils supporting plant growth fall into intermediate categories between clay soils and sands.
