The next were the Kshatriyas, who were warriors and fought to defend their kingdoms from intruders. The kings and princes of a kingdom were of this kind. The next were the Vaishyas, who were the merchants and traders who expanded the economy of their respective kingdoms. Then were the Shudras, who did physical labour and were considered as untouchables.
