\huge{\textbf{\underline{Quantum\;Numbers}}}

Quantum numbers are the numbers which serves as address for the electron in the atom. these Quantum numbers are helpful to distinguish the size shape and orientation of the orbitals.

\bigstarThere are 4 types of Quantum Numbers:-

  • Principal quantum number.
  • Azimuthal quantum number.
  • Magnetic quantum number.
  • Spin quantum number.

_______________________

\bigstarPrincipal quantum number:- It determines the shell of the electron. It also determines the energy of the shells as well as electrons.

\bigstarAzimuthal quantum number:- It determines the sub shell as well as the orbital of the electron.

\bigstarMagnetic quantum number:- It determines the number of orbitals present in the subshell

\bigstarSpin quantum number:- It determines the number of orbitals present in a sub shell.

  • To explain the position of electrons in the space around the nucleus ,quantum numbers were proposed .
  • Various types of orbitals can be distinguished by their size, shape and oerientation.
