Answer:

Non-Metallic oxides react with bases to give salts and water. Here metal in base reacts with carbon dioxide to form a salt. Hydrogen adds with oxygen in non- metal oxide to form water.Non metallic oxides are acidic in nature.

e.g. - Reaction of nonmetal oxide with base: CO2 + 2NaOH → Na2CO3 +H2O. Reaction of nonmetal oxide with salt: SO2 + Na2CO3 → Na2SO3 + CO2.

Answer

when Base react with Non-metal then the product will Be Salt and water

Base + Non-metal oxide ⇨ Salt + Water

Explanation:

Examples are

1. Calcium hydroxide gives calcium carbonate and water when it reacts with carbon dioxide.

Ca(OH)2 + CO2 ⇨ CaCO3 + H2O

2. Sodium hydroxide gives sodium carbonate and water when it reacts with carbon dioxide.

2NaOH + CO2 ⇨ Na2CO3 + H2O
