Acid is a hydrogen containing compound which gives free hydrogen ions when dissolved in water is called an acid.
Acids like "hydrochloric acid" also foloows the sane properry of reaction. Hence,
if hydrochloric acid reacts with metals like Magnesium then it forms Magnesium chloride in addition with hydrogen gas is evolved.
