Reaction of metals with acids is explained below -
- Metals react with acids in an exothermic way which means they release heat on reaction.
- The products are metal salts and release of hydrogen gas.
- Reaction is a type of single displacement reaction. In the reaction, metal is oxidised and hydrogen is reduced.
- Example of metal and acid reaction is given below - Zn + HCl --> ZnCl2 + H2. In the reaction, Zn is zinc, HCl is hydrochloric acid, ZnCl2 is zinc chloride and H2 is hydrogen.
