Heya !! ☺

The sun is visible to us about 2 minutes before sunrise and about 2 minutes after sunset due to the atmospheric refraction.

The apparent flattening of the Sun's disc at sunrise and at sunset is also due to the atmospheric refraction.

Answer :-

Advanced Sunrise :-

The phenomenon of advanced sunrise occurs due to atmospheric refraction.

When the sun is slightly below the horizon, the rays of light coming from the sun towards the earth move through mediums of varying refractive indices.

The light rays get bent towards the normal and appear to come from the top of the horizon which as a result, make us feel like as if the sun has rised earlier.

Therefore, the above facts clearly describe the phenomenon of advanced sunrise.

Delayed Sunset :-

Like advanced sunrise, the phenomenon of delayed sunset is also caused due to atmospheric refraction.

After sunset, the sun is slightly below the horizon.

The rays of light coming from the sun towards the earth move through mediums of varying refractive indices.

These light rays get bent towards the normal and appear to come from the top of the horizon which as a result, make us feel like as if the sunset is delayed.

Therefore, the above facts clearly describe the phenomenon of delayed sunset.
