It's answer is basically the same as why leaves are green in colour ,ur black shirt is black in colour or milk is white in colour.
Blood is red in colour cause major fraction of it contains RBC which in term is red in colour.4 to 6 million cell/ microliters
Rbcs are red in colour due to the haeme . Haeme contains iron. This iron combines with molecules of oxygen. This combination is in the form of coordinate bonds which is just partial donation of electrons between the atoms which differs from normal covalent ot ionic bonds.
Here iron is in fe3+ state..This co ordinate compound absorbs all the wavelength of visible lights except the red part and reflects it.hence we see blood as red colour.
So the explanation is more of physical then biological..The same explanation goes in case of leaves where there is magnesium instead of iron which absorbs most colours except green and reflects it hence imparting it as green colour..

Blood is red because of the hemoglobin inside our red blood cells. Hemoglobin is a protein that forms a complex with iron molecules and together they transport oxygen molecules throughout the body. In other words, skin changes the way light is reflected from the blood and we perceive that as being a different color.
