Explain the reason of extinct wildlife.
Answers
Humans can cause extinction of a species through overharvesting, pollution, habitat destruction, introduction of invasive species (such as new predators and food competitors), overhunting, and other influences. Explosive, unsustainable human population growth is an essential cause of the extinction crisis
The term wildlife includes any undomesticated organisms living in their wild (natural) habitat. The term is sometimes restricted to wild animals excluding plants.
Need for Conserving Wildlife : All organisms are part of the ecosystem which will get disturbed if any of the organism gets eliminated. All organisms form a link in a food chain which will get disturbed if all organisms are not conserved. These organisms play a vital role in the cycling of nutrients and in the absence of these organisms the nutrient cycles such as carbon, nitrogen, oxygen and water cycle will get disrupted.
Causes of Extinction of Wildlife : Wildlife is getting extinct due to the following reasons :
- Large scale mining and raising of huge buildings and dams
- Indiscriminate cutting of forests
- Killing of animals for food, pleasure, skin and hide
- lllegal trade of plant and animal products
- Overuse of natural resources for human their use which does not allow replenishment, e.g. more use of fish, prawns, crabs, lobster, etc. has resulted in extinction of many of these species
- Natural calamities such as droughts, forest fires and floods have made many of the rare species extinct
Species : Species is a group of population which are capable of interbreeding. This means that the members of a species can reproduce fertile offsprings only with the members of their own species and not with the members of other species. Members of a species have common characteristics.
