Explain the reason of wrapping of ice in gunny bags

Ice is wrapped in gunny bags as gunny bags contain a large amount of trapped air which acts as an insulator and prevents heat to flow in and therefore the ice do not melt. So they are wrapped in gunny bags

Gunny bags are made of jute. These fibres trap air in them. Air is a bad conductor of heat. Hence the air in the pores of the fibre prevents any heat transfer between the ice and the surroundings. This prevents ice from melting.
