Explain the reasons for decline of socialism in russia?

Socialism declined in Russia basically due to the strict rule of Lenin. Many socialists believed that the system of rule Lenin was following was completely against the ideology of socialism .In other words ,the bolsheviks started to gain hatred from their supporters and the subjects.
