Surapura is 50 kilometres away from Yadgir today. At an early age, Venkatappa Nayaka landed in the throne. Krishna Nayaka 's brother Peddanayaka opposed his ascension to the throne. This led to internal problems. In the affairs of Surapura the British intervened. In 1842 Medes Taylor was appointed their political agent and gained proxy power over Surapura
