Explain the redox titration using potassium permanganate and oxalic acid.

It is said that the titration of KMnO4 against Oxalic acid is different from others. First prepare a standard Oxalic acid solution of about 250 ml. Acidic medium (pH from 1 to 7) is preferred for the reaction between the reactants asked in question. The reason for preferring acidic medium is as permanganate ion is powerful oxidising agent in acidic medium which can be achieved by adding dil. $H_2SO_4$.
