Refraction The bending of a wave as it passes from one medium to another. Refraction signifies a change in velocity (speed) of the wave. is the bending of light (it also happens with sound, water and other waves) as it passes from one transparent substance into another.

This bending by refraction makes it possible for us to have lenses, magnifying glasses, prisms and rainbows. Even our eyes depend upon this bending of light. Without refraction, we wouldn’t be able to focus light onto our retina.

Refrection :-

---------------

When a ray of light travels from one mediam to another ( denser to rarer ) it goes away from the normal ,and when it is traveling from ( rarer to denser ) it bends towards the normal .

Denser :-

---------

The medium which have high density ( घना , ठोस । )

Rarer :-

----------

The medium which have less density .

Examples :-

Case 1 - Air ( Rarer ). Water ( Denser ).

Case 2 - Water ( Rarer ). Glass ( Denser ).
