Explain the relation between autonomy and authority

Basically we have read the differences in between these two terms so far which says authority is assigning power to enforce orders or rules where is autonomy is something similar to self government that is one has complete freedom to do anything the only similarity in between these two terms is both the terms denotes some kind of power enforcement.

Authority can mean:

i. Expertise - For example, This is an authoritative edition of his poems.

ii. Permission - For example, She has the authority to read the mail addressed to her boss.

iii. Right to rule - For example, The government has the authority to issue orders.

Autonomy refers to the ability to make one's own decisions and do what a person likes. It means self-direction while authority involves direction from outside.

Authority is a sense of power over others while autonomy is the inherent power of individuals or organizations to make decisions and do what they want.Ā
