Explain the relation between real depth and the virtual depth.

Real depth is the distance to the object from the surface.

Virtual depth is the distance from the surface to the image formed due to refraction.

So there is a relationship between the real depth and the virtual depth.

The refraction index of the medium is equal to the value gained by the division of the real and the virtual extent.
