Answer:

Jessica and Shylock have a distant/ strained relationship.

Explanation:

Firstly, Jessica when talking to Launcelot Gobbo before he leaves her father's service, Shylock, tells him that "our house is hell". This shows her strained relationship with Shylock as she is describing living with him in 'our house', as a place like ' hell', which is associated with torture and evil. This also shows that Jessica does not like living with Shylock and does not enjoy his company. Thus, their relationship is strained.

Secondly, Jessica states " Alack, what heinous sin is it in me To be ashamed to be my father's child! But though I am a daughter to his blood,I am not to his manners." It is evident here that Jessica is embarrassed to be associated with her father, Shylock and is embarrassed of his 'ill-manners', embarrassed og her own father. She says that although she might be his daughter by 'blood', but she is however, not like him in terms of his 'manners', hatred and resentment towards the Venetian Christian. Thus, their relationship is distant/strained.
