• In the ancient period man started using at different forms clay when mixed with water in proper proportions are used in pottery

• Clay is also used in decorative purposes and they are used in construction process such as in bricks walls and in paintings

• They are also used in stone ware

• In ancient times even houses were made of clay and people began to settle down there  

• The historical sites such as Mohenjo-Daro  and Harappa when excavated many articles which were made from clay were excavated
