if you are a Marxist who believes in the historic necessity of the bourgeousie being overthrown by workers and that the future is through the common ownership of the means of production, you will interpret history in a way to affirm these inevitable processes. Despite the first communist countries being Russia and China, you will interpret the history of the last 120 years to support this view.

Similarly, if you are a Catholic, you will see the world as evidence of God's creation and the Pope as his representative on Earth the spiritual leader of the Christian world.

If you are a Libertarian, you might view all government as inherently corruptible so anything any government does is bad. Minimal government is the best way to live.

So a paradigm is your fundamental view of the world.

A theory is a set of statements that purport to say something about the way the world works. Theories are interpreted through a paradigm and the validity of the theory is determined about how that paradigm deals with such statements.

The main paradigm that relies upon theories is the scientific paradigm. Theories in science are not immutable truths but potentially falsifiable through evidence.
