Explain the resonance condition of a LCR circuit.

There are two forms of resonate RLC circuits, series and parallel. In the series circuit the three elements are connected in series and obviously the parallel case all are tied in parallel.In both cases the resonant frequency is where the reactance of the L and C are equal and opposite. Xc = -Xl.In the series circuit the two reactances cancel each other so the impedance is R. In the parallel circuit the LC looks like an open so the parallel combination of the open plus the R equals R.
