the respiratory system in humans consists of air passages:-
the nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea and bronchi.
the nose:-
the external part of the nose ears to nationals separated by a cartilaginous CEPTAM. the hairs present in the nostrils prevent large particles from entering the system the 2 nostrils open into a pair of Nasal Chambers.
nasal Chambers perform three main functions:-
it warms the air as it passes over, it adds moisture to the air, it's mucus secretion in traps harmful particles .
an additional function of the nose is to smell the sensory cells of smell are located in a special pocket situated high up in the nasal Chambers.
the phayrnx:-
the nasal Chambers open at the back into a wide cavity difference situated at the back of the mouth it is a common passage for air and put it in leads into an air tube the trachea which is the windpipe and food tube which is the oesophagus.
when it is not in use the food tube usually collapses, the entrance to the trachea is guarded by the epiglottis which closes at the time of swelling of food.
the larynx:-
the Lawr all the voice box which is popularly called the Adam's Apple is a hollow cartilaginous structure located at the start of the windpipe.
the trachea:-
the trachea mergers from the larynx down below the neck where it is partly covered by the thyroid gland.
the bronchi:-
close to the lungs 3 track your into 2 tubes which is called the bronchi which enters the respective lungs on entering the lungs is bronchus divided into find secondary bronchi which further divided into three for the bronchioles .
the lungs:-
the lungs are a pair of spongy and Elastic organs formed by the air sacs their connecting bronchioles blood vessels etc.
two lungs are roughly cone shaped tapering at the top and at the bottom broad. the left lung has two lobes and the right lung has three lobes the left lung is slightly smaller to accommodate the heart in between.

the respiratory cycle consists of inspiration and expiration and a very short respiratory pausw in normal adult the breathing rate is 12 to 18 words per minute a newborn dress 60 times per minute slight increase in SEO to content of the blood increases breathing rate.
