The founder of this newly emerging sect sikhism was Guru Nanak who named his followers as sikhs which means disciples or learners. This sect was born in punjab. Guru Nanak's religious movement came to be peaceful and was liked and followed by many people as it motivated towards secular life. he was succeeded by a llong line of nine gurus, who in a period of 200 yrs not only organised and strengthened the sikh brotherhood but also built it up as a powerful fighting force against mughals.
