ambedkar has grown in a dalit family and he had expressed his thought of caste prejudice in the society. He was supposed to sit outside a class as all the high castes sit inside the classroom. he was not supposed to use anything used by the uppercastes. he had got a fellowship to England. and on his return to India he had thought of raising a movement to show the power of caste prejudice prelevant in the society. so, he had started the temple entry movement. All the dalit castes in the society came together and entered the temple and drank the holy water of the temple making the preists angry and after consecutive movements like this the dalit caste was allowed to enter the temples. And then there were reservations created for the lowercastes including the dalits. in this way dr.br. ambedkar helped the dalit castes

BR Ambedkar organised the dalits into the Depressed Classes Association in 1930 clashing with Mahatma Gandhi at Second Round Table Conference.
He demanded separate electorate for dalits.
Gandhi ji was reluctant to agree this and began a fast unto death.
Gandhiji believed that separate electorates for dalits and elimination of untouchability would not bring independence for 100 years.
Ambedkar ultimately accepted Gandhiji's position and the result was Poona Pact.
Hope it will help!!!
