Explain the role of cynobecteria to enrich the fertility?

Cyanobacteria or blue-green algae are a type of bacteria found in the soil. They help in fixing the atmospheric nitrogen. The nitrogen present in the air cannot be used directly by the plants. The cyanobacteria help the plants by doing this.

They are able to acclimatise to extreme environments, and improve the physico-chemical properties of the soil by enriching them with carbon, nitrogen and available phosphorus , improve soil pH, texture, ion-exchange capacity and conserve moisture.
