“Seventy percent of Earth's land animals and plants live in forests, and many cannot survive the deforestation that destroys their homes.” The trees of the rain forest that provide shelter for some species also provide the canopy that regulates the temperature, a necessity for many others.the depletion of forest is caused by deforestation- cutting down trees to build agriculture, cattle, buildings and the trees themselves are used for lumber. The consequences are the deprivation of O₂, habitat and inhalation of CO₂which decreases acid rain and global warming.
