A fuse is placed in series with the circuit so that the same current flows through the fuse and the electrical circuit. ... If a fuse of higher rating is used, then it will not blow off even when the current exceeds the safety limit of the appliance. As a result, the electrical appliances may get damaged.

Resistance:-

It is the property of a conductor to resist the flow of charges through it.

Its S.I unit is ohm (Ω).

R = V/I

And here,

R = Resistance

V = voltage and

I = current.

Factors on which the resistance of a conductor depends:

Resistance depends on its length (L)

Resistance depends on its cross sectional area (A)

Resistance depends on the nature of material

\sf{ \pink{R\propto \dfrac{L}{A}}}R∝AL

\sf{ \red{R=\rho \dfrac{L}{A}} }R=ρAL

Where "ρ" (rho) is proportionally constant known as resistivity of the material of conductor.
