explain the role of fuse in series with any electrical appliance. why should a fuse with defined rating of for an electrical circuit not be replaced by one with a larger rating

Fuse is the device which stops the flow of excess current through circuit. It contain wire which have very low melting point. Hence, wire melts when current more than specified value flows through circuit. If fuse with high rating is connected than current may pass through circuit and cause harm to the electrical appliance.
