The food security system of the government has two components:-

(2)Public Distribution system(PDS).
The government plays a vital role in the food security of the citizens of the country. The government works to ensure food security for the citizens of the country through its various policies and programs. The government tries to promote agriculture and food production through its various agro-friendly policies.
The government tries to promote agricultural production through subsidies, research and development and by guiding the farmers of the country. The government is also responsible for food storage and its efficient distribution to the country's citizens. The government also creates a supportive environment for food businesses and helps to facilitate trade and market development.
In a socialist country like India, the government has major control of agricultural goods, their storage and distribution among the citizens. Hence we can conclude that food security is the government's most important responsibility.
