Explain the role of histones in forming a nucleosome.

HISTONES:

they are the proteins that help in the coiling and packaging of DNA into structural units called histones. The DNA strand winds around a core of eight histone proteins ( called histone octamer) . Each such complex is called a nucleosome. An individual nucleosome can be considered like a football , around which a long rope is wound with one or two loops.
