The role of retailers in the distribution of goods:
Small scale shopkeepers, who sell the products or goods straight to the consumer, are called as retailers. Hawkers, shopkeepers, one-price-shop Pedlars are all retailers. Retailers are the last connection in the bonds of intermediaries.
The retailer is a mediator between the eventual consumer and wholesale. Retailers buy from the wholesaler and sell in very small good quantities to the consumers. He wants capital smaller than the wholesaler and usually, brings trade on a cash basis.
