The bell was more of a lifebouy for all the sailors who passed through the way and were saved by it. Had the bell any life, then it would have been blessed by endless sailors, and so was blessed the one who tied it. The bell played a pivotal role in saving lives.

1. The waves flooded over the Inchacpe Rock without creating an influence. 2.The Abbot of Aberbrothok placed a bell on the Inchcape Rock to give a caution to the mariners about the threat from the rock which was respected by the mariners. 3.Ralph the rover marked the bell, felt envious of the Abbot and cut off the bell from the rock which sank with a babbling sound which pleased the wicked Rover. Here there is contrast between wickedness of Rover and the saint Abbot. 4. After plundering sea for a long time, when Rover was returning the shore his ship collided with the same Inchacpe rock from where he removed the bell. In his dying fear Rocer could hear one dreadful sound which seemed like the sound made by Inchacpe Bell, but was the death knell being rung bu Devil himself.
