here's ur answer...
first of all what is a constitution??
=> A constitution can be described as a document outlining, the basic laws or principles by which a country is to be governed.
now, I will explain u by an example. why we need a constitution??
=> think of a game, let it be chess. according to the rule of chess, it suggests that king can move only one step in all directions. if player start moving the king 8 steps in all directions then it will be cheating na.. if u r playing hockey or cricket with ur frnds then one of ur frnd start holding hockey ball in their hands and cheating. then what will u do??
u will tell him or her that it's cheating.
right??
yes, u will definitely tell him or her that it's foul, cheating whatever whatever.
I told u before that constitution provides a set of laws and principles. similarly every game have their own rules according to which they are played. each rules define the game. if their will be no rule for each and every game then players will cheat and can do what they want.
like these games think that our society is also like a game and has constitutive rules so no one can do wrong with other people and do any wrong thing.
now, come to ur question...
what is the role of constitution in a country??
→ it lays down the ideals, that form our country. that is citizens aspire to live in.
→ it provides rules to safe guard the interest minorities.
→ it lays down rules that the guard against mis use of power by any political leader.
→ it also provides rights to it's citizens and protects their freedom.
→ it provides a set of rules and principles on the basis of which a country has to be governed.
we know that there are 5 key features of constitution like :-
# federalism
# parliamentary form of government
# separations of powers
# fundamental rights
# secularism
the constitution provides a set of rights which are called fundamental rights. these rights protects the citizens against the arbitrary power by the state.
these rights include:
==> RIGHT TO EQUALLY :-
all persons are equal before the law and it means that all persons should be equally protected by the laws of the country. no citizen should be discriminated on the basis of their religion, caste or sex.
==> RIGHT TO FREEDOM :-
this right includes that every citizen have right to move freely and reside in any part of the country, and have right to practice any profession or occupation.
==> RIGHT AGAINST EXPLOITATION :-
it is the right that children under age of 14 years cannot be forced to work. and prohibits human trafficking and forced labours.
==> RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF RELIGION :-
it includes that every person have right to practice or profess any religion of their choice. religious freedom is provided to all citizens.
==> CULTURAL AND EDUCATION RIGHTS :-
it states that any minority or religious groups can set up their own educational institutions to develop their own culture. everyone have right to preserve their own culture.
==> RIGHT TO CONSTITUTIONAL REMEDIES :-
it allows citizens to case or move the court if any of their fundamental rights have been violated by the state. it is the right to move the court if their rights have been violated.
I hope it's enough for u, if it's still short or small I m sorry...
