Solution:-

=> Look at the first figure it is figure of Total internal reflection

Conditions for total internal reflection

i) Light should be Incident from denser to Rarer medium

ii) Incident ray ( I ) > Critical angle ( c )

Role of TRI in the Formation of Rainbow

=> Look at the second figure it diagram of rainbow formation

=> when angle Incident ray is greater than Critical angle then Total internal reflection occurs . we will see the rainbow with help of total internal reflection if Total internal is not happening the light will continue out the other side of raindrops and continue away from our eyes

More information

Formation of Rainbow

=> During and after rain showering their are so many tiny water droplets remain floating in the earth atmosphere when sun ray fall on them they behave like small prism

When light enters into the water droplets it undergoes dispersion, refraction and then Total internal reflection after refraction band of seven colors is obtained is know as Rainbow

In nature, rainbows are formed when light from the sun is refracted and undergoes total internal reflection inside rain droplets. The light that is not reflected crosses the air-water interface. When this happens, it slows down because water is denser than the air.
