Answer:
Participation of women in the movement was the most remarkable feature of the national movement . During Gandhiji's Salt March, thousands of women came out of their homes to listen to him. Gandhiji had made a special appeal to the women to prevent people from going to the shops selling foreign cloth and liquor. Thousands of women responded to his call. They participated in protest marches , manufactured salt and picketed foreign cloth and liquor shops . In urban areas , these women were from high cast families,in rural areas, they came from rich peasants household . The participation of women in the movement did not necessarily mean any radical change in the position of women.
