1-Women played important role regarding various activities. In order to discuss and voice their interests women started their own political clubs and newspapers. About sixty women’s clubs came up in different French cities.

2.The Society of Revolutionary and Republican Women was the most famous of them, their main demands were that

(a) Women should be given the same political rights as men.

(b) They demanded the right to vote, to be elected to the Assembly and to hold political office.

The role of Women groups and political clubs in the French Revolution:

  • Women were active participants during the transitional years. They formed their own political clubs and publications to debate and express their concerns. Approximately 60 women's societies have arisen in numerous French towns, the most popular being the Radical Women's Club.
  • They wanted to enjoy certain rights as men, i.e. voting rights, being elected to the assembly and holding political office. Women's struggle in the both 19th and 20th centuries for peer political rights. French women finally got the entitlement to vote in 1946.
