French revolution has great importance in the freedom of women.

The idea of gender equality came from the French revolution and in this revolution for the first time in the history of mankind, women raised their voice for equality.

In the pre-revolutionary time, women were considered passive citizens as they had no rights as compared to the men such as political rights.

Women demanded the right to vote, they demanded to start their own political and newspaper clubs.

Women also demanded to be elected to the Assembly and to hold political office.
