The member are from the gram sabha and gram panchayat . They worked together to carry out specific tasks. Gram sabha has been envisaged as the foundation of panchayati raj system. A village having population less than 1500 forms gram sabha and every adult of the village is member of gram sabha.

Gram Sabha is the General Body of a village .it comprises of all adults measure about the age of 18 years whose names are registered in the electoral rolls ..
a gram sabha meets at least twice a year...it elect its representatives for the gram panchayat the number of members of a gram sabha varies from hundredto 1000 dending on the size of the village ....

the gram panchayat comprises of the members directly elected by the gram sabha. the number of member in a gram panchayat can vary from 7 to 31 depending on the size of the village .the members are elected for a term of five years. its members should also include those from scheduled caste SC ,
ST and other backward classes OBC ..
