Okay. So I live in Greater Noida, India with my wife.

If you have heard of ‘Caste System’. A lot of people give very much importance to one’s caste in India. Now, we belong to a Caste which has the following characteristics :

People of my caste are filthy rich especially in Delhi NCR.

Mostly have their own businesses, especially property dealing and construction.

Voice tone may sound harsh to the outsiders.

Muscular physique and love body building.

Are infamous for picking fights and thrashing people over small issues.

Considered less educated, especially English (though times are changing now)

In short, they dominate this region, some for good reasons, some for bad.

Now talking about me and my wife, we don’t possess any of the above characteristics thankfully (but not so thankfully for the first point :p). Same goes for our immediate families.

After we moved to the house we live in, the next door neighbor’s son (15) asked me about my Caste during a random conversation one day (yes that’s surprising, 15 year olds asking about such thing). I told him the answer though.

Couple of weeks later, my wife heard the same boy arguing with his mother, something along the lines of :

“ Sandeep Bhaiya himself told me that they belong to ‘X’ caste.”

“Oh forget it. They are telling lies just to show their dominance here. They know people hold high regards for people of ‘X’ caste. So they are faking it.

“But Mumma, I asked him specially for this and I think he was telling the truth.”

“Shut Up. You don’t know anything. Do they talk like or look anywhere close to people of ‘X’ caste? Liars they are.”

Not to mention, this rumor that we were faking our ‘caste’ spread to whole of the neighborhood very soon. I’m sure that Lady’s caste and religion was ‘BBC’.
