On January 22 in 2015 from Panipat, Haryana on occasion of International Girl Child day for promoting awareness and improving efficiency of welfare services.  

Scheme protects gender-biased sex-selective elimination and confirm education, survival and protection of girl child.  

It aims to celebrate girl child.

Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) Scheme was initially introduced to address issue of declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR).  

Scheme is implemented by joint initiative of Ministry of Women and Child Development and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Human Resource Development.
