Sclerenchyma :- It may be hexagonal , heptagolan , quadrilateral shaped. It is a permanent tissue which provides mechanical support but are non living in nature.

Sclerenchyma is one of the three types of ground tissue in plants. The other two types are parenchyma and collenchyma. Sclerenchyma cells occur in many different shapes and sizes, but two main types occur: fibres and sclereids.
Sclerenchyma cells have thickened lignified walls, which make them strong and waterproof.
