Explain the sea holiday was a past ,mine is a laughter

By this the poet want to say that the sea holiday was her past i.e her memories to which see would laugh. But now she is not there only her memories and laughter is present in the poet's memories.

Gone is the carefree laughter of the sweet girl who was just twelve or so at that time. For the poet the laughter of the mother has also become a thing of the past.
